Audio (XP And Vista Dual Boot)

Hii am currently running a dual boot of windows vista and xp sp2. the problem is that although i get good (excellent in fact) sound in vista when i boot up xp after that , there is no sound in that. I have tried reinstalling all drivers and software for my card but it just doesnt work. I have onboard realtek high definition audio.

Any help would be appreciated

Check to see if anything is muted.

Check to see if anything is muted as Colin says, and check all the levers and settings on both your XP CP Sound Applet and the Applet that will be in the CP for Realtek. Unplug the connections to speakers and replug them in. Unplug the speaker connections to your PC and replug them in.
